The unit has the overall responsibility of procuring all goods, services, works and equipment for the Ministry of Works and Transport.
Key Functions.
- Manage all procurement activities carried out in the Ministry.
- Produce the Ministry's annual procurement and disposal plans.
- Render technical advice and guidance to end users of the preparation of solicitation and other relevant documents.
- Make submissions to Contracts Committee for approval.
- Carry out invitation, receipt and guide opening of bids at the Ministry.
- Consolidate all the procurement needs of the various departments and schedules associated with procurement.
- Implement decisions of the Contracts Committee.
- Advise and recommend the appropriate procurement and disposal procedures.
- Prepare bids and contracts documents.
- Prepare advertisements for procurement and disposal bid opportunities.
- Maintain suppliers' list of the Ministry.
- Record in an easily retrievable form all the procurement and disposal decisions made.
- Prepare annual pre-qualifications register of providers of goods, work and services for the Ministry.
- Produce and submit periodic reports to PPDA and in the required time.
- Ensure transparency in carrying out procurement and disposal process.
- Issue approved contract documents to successful bidders.
- Prepare monthly reports to the Contracts Committee.
